Weekly Update 03/08

Updated Thursday 03/05

Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. – Mark 11:13 (NASB)

Nothing but Leaves

I once saw a church sign that read, “God is looking for spiritual fruit, not
religious nuts.” Religious nuts are abundant, but spiritual fruit is often
scarce. Fruit bearing was an important theme to Jesus. In John 15:8 he said, “My
Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My
disciples.
” The New Testament talks about fruit in our Christian lives over
fifty times! If we do not bear fruit, we become “Nothing but leaves.” May God
help us to be a fruit bearing people!

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering Week of Prayer

“More Than a Gift” is this year’s theme. We give to the AAEO each year at this time to support missions and missionaries in North America. Please take advantage of your prayer guide this week to catch a glimpse of what God is doing through our missionaries. Pray for them and give generously!

Thank You for Your Generosity

I am continually amazed at how God provides for ministry needs through the people
of CBC. Thank you for giving to…

·The Church Budget – Your undesignated tithes and offerings are the foundation upon which all ministry is built.

·Annie Armstrong – Missionaries and mission work across North America depend on the generosity of the people of our SBC churches.

·Love offering – Your response to help with the needs of Karen and Grady
Rodriguez is much needed and appreciated.

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ
Jesus
. – Philippians 4:19 (NASB)

Resurrection Sunday is Coming! – April 5

Be praying about who you can invite to join us!
· 7:30 a.m. – Sunrise service on the back porch.
· 8:15 a.m. – Breakfast – prepared by our men.
· 9:30 a.m. – Worship our risen Saviour (worship center).

Resurrection Treasure Hunt – Something New!

On Resurrection Sunday, between our usual breakfast and worship service, we
will be having a “Resurrection Treasure Hunt.” The kids will hunt eggs and
there will be seven special eggs to tell the “Easter” story. The children who
find these eggs will receive a Bible and the eggs will be used to share the
Resurrection story during children’s time. You can help by bringing eggs and
candy between now and then - and by inviting others!

Think about it…
Christian, treasure this precious union with Christ, for it must be the source of all the fruitfulness that you can ever hope to know. If you were not joined to Jesus Christ, you would be a fruitless branch indeed. – C. H. Spurgeon
