Weekly Update 09/13

Updated Sunday 09/10

And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. – Acts 2:2-4 (NASB)

Update from Pastor Darrel

The Birth of The Church

There was great anticipation. Jesus had told his disciples to “stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” And when the day of Pentecost (the celebration of the harvest and giving of first fruits to God) came, his promise was fulfilled and the church was born. The Holy Spirit came, the gospel was boldly proclaimed, and the church was built up. We’ll talk about it this morning. Thank you for praying for your pastor!

Welcome Nathan Cook

Bro. Nathan Cook will lead our time of worship through singing this morning. Nathan is retired from full-time music ministry but is still very involved in the ministry of FBC Waco, 50 plus camp, and other ministries. Welcome!

KBC Off to a Great Start!

We had about 50 children for Kids Beach Club at the intermediate school on Tuesday. It was a great day. Both the kids and the leaders had a great time. Scripture was memorized and the gospel was presented. We are grateful!

Think about it…
We do not need to wait for the Holy Spirit to come; he came on the day of Pentecost. He has never left the church. – John Stott
